A licensed and qualified investigator is required for ongoing protective security work for Australian government agencies and private industry clients. The applicant should be committed to Australia's National Security, meet high standards of integrity, honesty and confidentiality required of personnel working for or on behalf of the Australian Government, and operate within the Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS) 2011.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake investigations according to The Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS) 2011
  • Ability to evaluate the initial report, plan, prioritise, manage resources, manage evidence collection and undertake quality control of investigations
  • Ability to direct multi-disciplined team to undertake specialist requirements of investigations including forensic accountants, surveillance operatives, forensic IT imaging of PC’s and data sources
  • Maintain a contemporary understanding of the sources of evidence available from the client and also publicly available
  • Interview witnesses and produce statements or affidavits and interview offenders and produce recordings and transcripts
  • Produce briefs of evidence according to Rules of Evidence and criminal burdens of proof
  • Ability to report matters to authorities on behalf of the client for further investigation and possible prosecution
  • Ability to identify assets for legal considerations by the client and/or authorities
  • Produce reports detailing the situation, investigation undertaken, parties involved, failures of controls, with recommendations for corrective action, escalations and if necessary, reporting to authorities
  • Ability to manage risks emerging for the client, individuals, and the investigation
  • Maintain relationships with clients and witnesses
  • Perform work according to Australian laws including Privacy Acts

Requirements

  • Law enforcement or military background with detective qualifications
  • Diploma of Government (Investigation)
  • Security license according to State security licensing requirements
  • Extensive experience in providing investigation services for government departments and clients into suspected breaches of policy, standards, fraud, corruption and/or criminal conduct
  • Extensive experience in criminal law, criminal investigation procedures and knowledge of the elements of offences
  • Extensive knowledge of physical security systems including: electronic (physical) access control systems; video management systems (CCTV); alarm systems
  • A sound knowledge of audits, security incident reporting, fraud and corruption incident reporting,
  • Security clearance to the standard of NVl or

The applicant should also have excellent relationships in law enforcement.
